Been drawing again since work has been slow. Have four woodcuts to do now…just waiting for some 8×10′s to arrive so I can start carving. Meantime here are two of my New England themed drawings…lighthouses specifically. The other two are to come in the next posts so stay tuned.

Hi…I just finished this drawing for another lino-cut for a very special friend of mine. We have known each other for over 20 years and live on different coasts now. He and his wife have the most beautiful kids…so here they are…
The first pic is the original photo and the 2nd is my lino drawing interpretation which I am now in the process of carving.
Oh…it’s backwards b/c it’s the one I am using for my block

Family is so important to me…so when my uncle expressed interest in my lino-cuts I was honored to do this for him.
He wanted a WWII plane and here is the final block and print.
As I believe I mentioned before…I love sharing my art with friends and family. I just believe that for one of many reasons I was given a talent so what the heck!!! I love it!

Here is the final Linocut for my friend Chris of her two very handsome young sons…if you have been following along, my previous blog featured the original photo and my drawing prior to the linocut…If not, not worries…you can refer to it here: Lino Drawing for a Friend.
As I always do in my new posts…here is the actual lino block and then the printed block. I hope you have been enjoying my art as I have been enjoying doing them.

I love doing lino-cuts and any sort of art for friends…which is why I really don’t have an arsenal of artwork. I tend to give it away. It makes me happy if it makes others happy.
So when one of my dearest friends, Chris…who I have known since…oh, the late 80′s from my second job in California asked me to do a linocut of her two handsome boys…how could I resist?
Here is the outcome of which, as I type this I am transferring to a block…
The first photo is the original and second is my lino drawing interpretation.

Lino-cut is finished but the printing is not up to my standards. I need some fresh ink. However, I could not resist putting the first print up…so here it is…learn more about why I love lighthouses in my last post: Linocut prep for lighthouse.
I did do some adjustments to the block and the next print will be much cleaner…promise.
Here is the block…

New England! I will always call this HOME! I grew up in Massachusetts and spent all of my youth and college years in MA and traipsing around NH, VT and ME…skiing and just having fun. Lighthouses have always been a symbol of my love of New England…aside from lobster but cuisine is just a whole other story.
This picture to me encapsulates the beauty and yet ominous aura that all New England lighthouses emit. So here you are…I hope I have given it the respect it so deserves.
This pictures is the initial drawing that I am now in the process of transferring to the block prior to carving.

I started this self-portrait years ago as a color-pencil drawing and then in my stupid mind gave the finished one to a now very ex-boyfriend. So all I have is this scan of the unfinished drawing but have always wanted to do a wood/lino cut of it…and I finally have finished one.
Here is the color-pencil drawing:
And finally here is what I really wanted to do:
My lino block on the left and the print on the right:
